We understand psychology as the integral development of the human being considered holistically, that is, as a totality that involves the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, social.
The way of being in the world proposed by Gestalt is: To be aware of our experiences in the present making us responsible for our actions. It is a humanistic therapy, framed in the movement of human potential.

– Gestalt is concerned with the “here and now”, it considers it more relevant for people to explore “how” they experience a problem in the present, than to look for its causes in the past.
– For this it is necessary to be in “contact” with what is happening, developing and opening the perception of bodily sensations and feelings.
– It aims to bring about a “realization”, which is a deep and not just an intellectual understanding of the experience.
– It allows unfinished Gestalts from the past to be actualized in the here and now and to be closed.
– It favors the emergence of an attitude of “acceptance” of what is.
– It promotes the development of “self-support”, a process by which people can find their own resources and solutions based on their awareness, the development of greater consciousness, becoming “responsible” and the unfolding of their potential.

While theory and techniques are important, perhaps more important is the “gestalt spirit” as Claudio Naranjo puts it:

– Live now. Worry about the present rather than the past or the future.
– Lives here. Take care of what is present before what is absent.
– Stop imagining things. Experience the real
– Stop thinking about unnecessary things. Instead, like and watch.
– Express rather than manipulate, explain, justify or judge. Surrender to discomfort and pain in the same way you surrender to pleasure. Do not limit your conscience.
– Accept no other duties nor should you accept any other duties than those you impose on yourself. Do not worship any idol.
– Take full responsibility for your actions, feelings and thoughts.
– Accept yourself as you are.
